While ‘Insta-glam’ makeup took the front seat in 2017, 2018 was all about celebrating fresh, hydrated skin, incorporating more unconventional colours into your beauty routine and experimental, graphic eyes. It’s all about making maximum impact with minimal products. So today, I present to you a look into the major beauty trends that took over the runways and our vanities in 2018, and how to achieve them flawlessly:
DEWY, FRESH SKIN + BIG, BOLD LIPS
Forget caking on the foundation and concentrate on letting your skin shine through. Add in a bold lip colour to command all the attention toward the lips for a clean and minimal, yet statement look.
Get the look: Prime your skin with an illuminating primer, and follow up with spot concealing. Set your under-eyes with a translucent powder. Highlight the high points of your face, brush on a few coats of mascara and finish with a bold lip colour.

WARM MUSTARD EYES + SLICK HAIR
Yellow is the colour of the year in makeup, with mustard and canary hues taking over the eyes and cheeks. Swipe on a bold yellow shadow of your choice, and to top it all off, use some hair gel to slick your strands back and keep the attention on your eyes.
Get the look: Prime your skin with an illuminating primer, and follow up with spot concealing. Set your under-eyes with a powder. Highlight the high points of your face, apply some bronzer on your cheeks and temples to warm up your face, and then pat on some bright, chrome yellow shadow onto your lids. Blend it out, brush on lots of mascara and finish with a nude lip colour. For the wet-hair look, use some hair gel and run your fingers through your hair, pushing your locks back.

DRAMATIC LASHES + LOTS OF GLITTER
False lashes can quickly take your look from drab to fab. For a more experimental look, add some glitter to your cheeks. To keep the drama on the eyes, a swipe of nude lipstick will polish it off. Remember, to keep all the attention on the glitter, matte skin is the way to go for this particular look.
Get the look: Use a pore filling primer and follow up with a medium coverage foundation. Conceal your problem areas with a high-coverage concealer, and set with translucent powder. Put on lots of mascara and apply false lashes. Use a glitter pigment and place the product in a ‘tear’ shape under your eyes, coming onto your cheeks. Polish off with a nude lipstick.

STATEMENT GRAPHIC LINER + BARELY-THERE, NUDE LIPS
Applying eyeliner doesn’t always mean rocking a basic cat eye. Your product can do so much more than that! Unleash your inner artist and think clean, abstract, geometric shapes. Follow up with a nude lipstick, and you’re good to go.
Get the look: Prime your skin with an illuminating primer, and follow up with a medium coverage foundation. Conceal your problem areas and set with translucent powder (only where you must!). Use a liquid or gel eyeliner to draw a graphic shape and fill in. Follow up with lots of mascara and false lashes for extra drama. Lightly pat on a nude lipstick to finish off the look.
